Windows of opportunity at Camden

With sustainability increasingly influencing business decision-making, Camden Group have capitalized on consumer demand for superior quality, high performance and thermally efficient products and are pleased to offer their eCare range of fully glazed windows, with BFRC approved A to C rating.

Why choose Camden eCare Energy Rated windows ECare Energy Rated, Camden’s new range of energy efficient windows, have been designed to meet new building control regulations set by government, as part of its commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20% by 2010.

Following stringent testing, Camden Group has successfully attained its new accreditation from the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC), for the energy efficiency of its windows. When Only BFRC Will Do!

From the 1st January 2009 all buildings offered for sale or rent in Ireland will require a Building Energy Rating (known as Energy Performance Certificates in Northern Ireland).. An independent Energy Assessor will be employed to carry out the test; they will examine all aspects of energy efficiency in the home, including windows.

If there is no accredited third party certificate to prove the windows energy rating, a default table is used to assess the windows performance. The ratings on the default table are conservative estimates, giving in all cases the worst u-value possible for the same/similar specification of window.

BFRC are an accepted third party accredited body, so when choosing a new or replacement window from Camden Group you can be assured of quality, performance, and sustainability as all Camden Group’s eCare range have BFRC approval.

In a similar way to white goods (fridges/freezers), an A-G rating is given to all windows dependant on their energy efficiency, where an A-rated window is more energy efficient than a G-rated window.

The A to G scale is a more sophisticated method of measuring a windows energy performance as it not only takes into consideration the whole window U-value, but also the solar gain and air leakage. For example a window may achieve a U-value of 1.0 but if the frame seal is poor, the cold air leakage will give the unit a much poorer rating.

Camden eCare Energy Rated windows have also been awarded Energy Saving Recommended status, the official recommendation from the Energy Saving Trust.

Kieran Lavery, Managing Director of Camden Group, said: 'We are delighted to be able to offer our customers our new range of Camden eCare energy rated windows as part of our product range. Its helps us to remain ahead in this competitive market. Homeowners looking to renovate or build in the interests of contributing a “green home” to the environment should not overlook the importance of energy-efficient windows and ours have that very important third party approval.”
